Makoré - African Cherry - Tieghemella heckelii
Makoré is found in West Africa. It's color and great figure are warm and inviting, with fine and even texture that finishes easily to a high luster; as a side note: it's stable but can be brittle, and will dull tools rather quickly. Also called African Cherry, it's often been used as a substitute for mahogany, and more recently to replace cherry's soaring prices.
The Makore tree is on the endangered list & salvage suppliers are the only responsible resources for its purchase.

Boards with knots & sapwood were also discarded.

This wood is beautiful when finished with oil.

Some spalting on the sapwood pieces!
